3 Ways to Fuel Your New Year’s Resolutions
Can you believe it’s 2021 already? Your resolutions are probably sketched out, and your decision is firm. This year, you are determined to stick to positive changes. Health is a big factor in your life, so being healthy is an important part of your resolution list. We knew it would be!

Here are 3 ways to fuel your resolutions toward success:

1) Write it down, and then expand on it. Explain to yourself why you want to achieve it.

Writing down goals or resolutions has been shown to help you remember them and improve follow through.  Writing down information with the classic pen and paper activates the “RAS” part of your brain, or the reticular activating system. This is a network of connected nuclei in the brain that can filter out unimportant information once it’s been programmed with the important information.

The best way to program your brain with important information is to write it down by hand. When you type it out or even say it to yourself it doesn’t have the same effect on your brain. Write your goals down in a goal book, and then post another copy in a place you are sure to see daily, like in your bathroom or kitchen. Seeing your goals regularly can be motivating and help you remember to work on them.

If your resolution is to go to the gym every day, then writing it down can help you remember, even subconsciously, that you need to get up at a certain time so you can make it to the gym before work. By the way, working out in the morning can give you more energy through the entire day.  It’s easy to think working out will make you tired, and it might a little at first, but overall, people who work out regularly have more energy.

After you have your goal written down, go ahead and expand on why you want to achieve it. For each goal or resolution you have, make a list of 3 or 4 reasons why you want to achieve it and how your life will improve once it’s done. Thinking through the benefits of a choice you want to make can help you make the good choice.

2) Visualize success daily.

After your goals are written down and expanded upon, schedule time daily to visualize success. If you do yoga or meditation, this is a great time to visualize. During your visualization, think about what it will be like when you achieve what you want to achieve. If your goal is to train for a marathon, then think about how your body will feel on a good long run after training for a couple of months. Think about how glad you will be that you did the training even though it was hard.

If your goal is to lose 15 pounds, then think about how it will feel to try on a smaller size of clothing and have it fit just right. If your goal is to go back to school, think about meeting a new friend or how great it will feel to get an A in class. Thinking about the details helps you embrace the scenario as a possible reality. Visualization can help you make a good decision to move yourself closer to where you want to be.

Visualization can also help clear out negative or stressful thoughts from your mind. Daily stress can keep you from having the time to think about and move towards what you want. At the end of a hard day of work, it can be a challenge to switch gears back to a more personal focus, after focusing on your job all day.  Meditation on the fact that God is in control and petitioning Him for the important things you need can be a huge stress reliever. Once your brain stops spending energy on worry and stress, it’s free to think about positive ways to make life better.

3) Optimize nutrition for maximum energy and well-being.

In addition to writing down goals and visualizing success, it’s important to optimize nutrition. Make sure that what you are putting into your body will give you the energy to succeed. Sugary protein bars, gluten and refined carbs will suck the energy out of your goals.  If you are about to start the Yeast-Free with Me program, then you are headed for a perfect meal plan for success.

We highly suggest this low-carb, paleo type of eating plan for optimal nutrition. Whatever eating plan you are on, focus mostly on drinking enough water, and on eating as many brightly colored fruits and vegetables as you can. If you are on the yeast-free eating program, then you have to wait a month to add back fruit, but it will be worth the wait. Nutrition can help fuel your goals and energize success.

When it comes to optimizing nutrition, it’s impossible to do so with foods alone, even if your eating plan is perfectly healthy. Supplementing a high-quality vitamin and mineral regimen is critical. Be sure to take the highest-quality vitamins possible to give yourself the energy to accomplish great things. The highest-quality, most comprehensive daily vitamin and mineral packet on the market is Dr. Hotze’s PowerPak.

“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.” -Napoleon Hill

Unfortunately, right at the beginning of the year, due to the high-carb holiday fare, your mind may not feel its best. Brain fog, aches, pains and low energy are common. You may have the best intentions to get to the gym, start more volunteer work, and start writing that new book, but you are tired.

Sometimes you are just tired, and you need rest. That’s ok. Rest is good for you. But if you are tired day after day, then you have an energy problem. Addressing the energy issue could be a game changer for you in 2021.
